Hero Xpulse 210 Expert Review
The Hero Xpulse 210 represents a significant evolution of Hero’s
entry-level adventure motorcycle platform. While the earlier Xpulse
200 4V established itself as an affordable and capable dual-sport
motorcycle, the Xpulse 210 aims to address one of its biggest
limitations by offering stronger engine performance and improved
highway usability.
The motorcycle retains the core qualities that made the Xpulse
popular, including a lightweight chassis, long-travel suspension, high
ground clearance, spoke wheels, and an upright riding position.
However, the new liquid-cooled engine and six-speed gearbox make the
Xpulse 210 a more versatile motorcycle for riders who divide their
time between city roads, highways, and off-road trails.
Engine & Refinement
Powering the Hero Xpulse 210 is a 210cc liquid-cooled, four-valve DOHC
single-cylinder engine producing 24.6 PS of maximum power and 20.7 Nm
of peak torque. Compared to the previous 200cc platform, the new
engine provides noticeably stronger acceleration and better
performance at higher speeds.
Power delivery is progressive and manageable, which is particularly
useful when riding on loose surfaces where predictable throttle
response is more important than sudden acceleration. The engine also
offers enough mid-range performance for overtaking slower traffic
during everyday highway riding.
The six-speed gearbox is another important improvement. The additional
gear allows the motorcycle to maintain highway cruising speeds at more
relaxed engine speeds, making longer journeys more comfortable than on
the previous Xpulse 200 4V.
Off-Road Capability
Off-road performance remains one of the strongest reasons to consider
the Xpulse 210. The combination of a 21-inch front wheel, 18-inch rear
wheel, spoke rims, long-travel suspension, and generous ground
clearance allows the motorcycle to tackle terrain that would be
difficult for conventional street motorcycles.
The upright handlebar position provides good leverage when riding
while standing on the footpegs, while the narrow bodywork makes it
easier for the rider to move around the motorcycle when navigating
difficult sections.
The suspension can absorb rocks, potholes, broken roads, and uneven
trail surfaces effectively. Riders exploring forest trails, mountain
roads, and unpaved routes will find the Xpulse 210 significantly more
capable than conventional commuter motorcycles.
Ride & Handling
Despite its adventure-bike proportions, the Xpulse 210 remains
manageable during everyday riding. The motorcycle feels balanced once
moving, and the wide handlebars provide good control when navigating
traffic or riding through narrow trails.
The long-travel suspension is primarily tuned to absorb poor road
conditions rather than provide sharp street-bike handling. This
results in a comfortable ride over broken surfaces, although riders
may notice more suspension movement during aggressive cornering on
smooth roads.
The relatively lightweight construction also makes the motorcycle
easier to control during low-speed off-road riding and reduces the
effort required to recover the bike after a fall on a trail.
Braking Performance
Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends. The braking
setup provides progressive stopping power suitable for road riding as
well as situations where riders need better control on loose surfaces.
The available ABS system improves braking confidence during emergency
stops on paved roads. The motorcycle’s ABS modes also allow riders to
adjust the braking intervention according to different riding
conditions, which is particularly useful when switching between
highways and off-road terrain.
Fuel Efficiency & Touring Range
The Xpulse 210 offers reasonable fuel efficiency considering its
improved engine performance and adventure-focused design. Actual
mileage can vary significantly depending on highway speeds, traffic
conditions, luggage, riding style, and the amount of off-road usage.
Combined with the 13-litre fuel tank, the motorcycle provides a useful
touring range for weekend trips and longer journeys. Riders planning
remote adventure routes should still calculate fuel stops carefully,
especially when travelling through areas with limited petrol pump
availability.
Comfort & Ergonomics
The Xpulse 210 offers an upright and commanding riding position that
provides good visibility in traffic and reduces pressure on the
rider’s wrists during long journeys. The wide handlebars provide
excellent leverage while standing on the footpegs during off-road
riding.
The long-travel suspension helps isolate the rider from potholes and
broken surfaces, making the motorcycle particularly comfortable on
poor Indian roads. However, the tall seat height may require shorter
riders to plan their footing carefully during slow-speed manoeuvres
and frequent stops.
Overall, the Hero Xpulse 210 is a more complete adventure motorcycle
than its predecessor. It retains the accessible and capable nature of
the Xpulse platform while adding the engine performance and highway
ability needed by riders who want to travel longer distances.
